MY JOURNEY TO DISNEY ON ICE

It all started when I was about 4 or 5 years old. My family and I went to a local arena in my hometown to see “Disney On Ice Presents Jungle Adventures.” The one thing I remember so vividly is Tarzan soaring above the crowd, from a vine, and at that moment, I knew — I want to do that. I started skating at the age of seven at the Spirit Ice Arena in College Station, Texas. The day of my first figure skating group class, my mother told me I could learn, but I’d be done if I talked back or didn’t listen to the coach. Let me tell you, to this day that is the quietest I have EVER been.
After that, I told every coach I worked with that I wanted to skate for Disney On Ice. Being a 7-year-old at the time, most people would brush it off and say, “Yeah, okay, sweetie!” But I kept skating and kept saying the same thing for fifteen years. Now here I am, living out my lifelong childhood dream of skating professionally for Disney On Ice.
I recorded this video journal about my journey, for ABC13/KTRK in Houston. I hope it provides some insight and inspiration into what it took for me to fulfill my dream and become a Disney On Ice skater!
